I want to learn bondage

It makes me so happy to discover that more and more people are interested in bondage and willing to learn how to tie. And everyone keeps asking me where they should start learning from, because truth be told, ropes are a lot more fun on a nude body than in pretty pictures on the internet. So I thought that I should write an article with resources for those who want to learn bondage but don’t know where to start from. And in my opinion, the first stop for anyone passionate about bondage and shibari should be Remedial Ropes. Read all the info provided there and read it well, because bondage done badly can be extremely dangerous. And you want your bondage to be fun, not the hospital-ly emergency kind.

Now the best advice I can offer from there is try to learn from someone. Search FetLife for a rope event in your area. Or maybe join a local FetLife group on bondage/shibari/kinbaku. Get in touch with people around you who might be hosting events on rope and workshops. Or go to a Peer Rope event and there will surely be someone there willing to give you some tips and demonstrate the basics. No online resource will ever be better than doing something practical and being shown what to do, live. 

If there are no events in your area connected to rope or you can’t make it to any of them, then you have to turn to online lessons and I would advise spending some money on quality content. I recommend the DVDs that I started with, which are super-easy to understand and have the info all beginners need: Bruce Esinem‘s DVDs.

You can also continue with online lessons by Nina Russ and Esinem. There is a lot of great info there and cool classes, to help you along: http://www.shibariclasses.com/. From suspensions to tying techniques, there is a lot to learn there.
